I got my backpack yesterday, an Osprey Atmos 65 AG in a lovely Cinnabar Red. I wanted something big and non-camoflauged to make finding (1) me and/or (2) my stuff easier in the woods.
I also picked up some backpacking cooking pots that were on sale and a ridiculous-sounding but kinda cool solar, rechargeable, inflatable lantern. (Luci Lux by Mpowerd.) Frosted because I wanted a softer light that wouldn't be so blinding. I'm not crazy about the "warm" light, but the frostiness is better, IMO.
So, now, I have (technically) purchased everything I need to take a backpacking trip.

| Fun Fact: I didn't know the drawstring on some of these things was reflective! |
If I wanted hot food I'd have to bring a large propane canister and my camping single-burner. Because I have no water filtration or anything like that, the same goes for water if I didn't pack it all in.
I'd have to make a footprint for the tent (the floor of that tent seems so damn flimsy, I don't ever want to set it up without something between it and the ground. I believe it would be fine without a ground cover but I want it to last a while.)
I still would like a different pillow (I think) 'cause the inflatable one (Klymit X Pillow) just doesn't seem quite right for the way I sleep. I still need maps, but I can print those out. Permits are obtainable when necessary. I have a California Fire Permit for the year so I can make fire if I want. I did finally find my compass and it still seems to be working fine (yay!).
Et cetera. Et cetera. Et cetera.
BUT, I could go back packing if I wanted to. I could make do with what I have. And that's what's making me happy today.
